Crowdfunding Update #3

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at and repair.

We were just informed that we have been randomly picked by U.S. Customs and Border Protection for something called a VACIS exam and in exchange for the privilege of being forced into this “exam” will be a fee from $500-$1,000?!  WTF.

All this means is we need to sell a few more now. Please tell your friends what happened and that we need help.

What is a VACIS exam you ask? It is what is called a Non-Intrusive Inspection (NII) or a VACIS exam. It's pretty cool. They can see through walls like Superman.  The CBP orders the container to be driven through a GIANT X-ray machine at the ocean terminal and reviews the pictures. If all is well, they will release the container.

Can you picture it? An X-Ray machine that you can drive a truck through. That's cool.  Unfortunately, is also another delay, and I am sorry to inform you we are going to late.

We are now at the mercy of Customs on a delivery date but we are being told the exam process is only 2-3 days.

Thank you, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Field Operations for your hard work and service. Especially during the holiday season. For being so diligent.  Specifically, about our plastic bottles with holes on the side.  Which are undoubtedly an enormous risk.

Thank you so much to our supporters for your continued patience.

P.S.

IMHO they should charge people the fees for bringing in contraband. People like ourselves whom bring in legit goods should not have to be charged for services that were randomly foisted on us. I hear this can get expensive quickly, and as you know from our story, we need this money to keep up with our growth.

It makes me wonder about our system. Why is a start up with limited resources having paying to protect our borders out of pocket? Randomly charging a small business, a start-up no less, this kind of money is not cool. If we were the bad guy, hell we should pay, but we are not.

Am I right?
